Accuracy in evaluating the quality and quantity of your jewelry is another area where Turn Your Gold Into Money excels.

Once your Gold Pak is received it is opened, photographed and verified by one of our approved specialists. Then it's time to test and weigh your jewelry.

First: Using magnification we note all markings on each piece of jewelry, (14k) for example.

Second: State-of-the-art electronic testing is used. A clip holds your jewelry in place on the machine. Then a few drops of test solution are placed on the area to be tested. Quickly and accurately the digital display tells exactly what Karat gold is being tested. From 8 to 24 Karat Gold, to Silver or Platinum, it can all be accurately tested within just a few minutes.

Third: If the electronic testing does not match the markings on your jewelry, then we would use the scratch test. This is a very old and very simple test. It, along with a trained and experienced person, is the only test used by most pawn shops or start up gold-buying companies. The jewelry is rubbed or gently scratched across a stone. This does not damage the jewelry being tested. Then a needle with actual gold on the end is scratched right beside the scratch of your jewelry. These needles are marked with what karat gold is on the end 8,10,14 etc. Then a test acid is put on each scratch to see if they react in the same way or differently. You may have seen this test being done before.

Finally: Your jewelry has now been identified, without question, for its purity. Next it is weighed on state-of-the-art digital jewelry scales. These scales are extremely accurate and are tested at the beginning of each business day by using a 500 gram weight. These scales almost never have to be calibrated. But if they are ever off even as much as 1/100th of a gram they are quickly calibrated and put back to work.
